History Lessons were created as a reaction to what I felt was a downturn in the political landscape. During days laced with noise of contradicting “breaking news” and alternative facts’ reality, I was drawn to the comfort of history lessons embedded in my conscience. I spent hours revisiting historical landmark stances for human rights through on line research. Images from the Library of Congress combined with monotypes, cyanotypes, stitching and other surface marking techniques became the fabric and trimmings of these “dresses”.

History Lessons are dedicated to Alice who loves story time and dressing-up games.
